Hamburg, 15 April 2025 – The well-known online magazine DJ LAB has published a detailed article about the launch of songs.de in its News section. Under the title „Songs.de: New streaming platform launched with fair remuneration for artists“, author Boris Alexander describes the concept and emphasises how songs.de clearly sets itself apart from the established streaming providers.

The article addresses a problem that many musicians are all too familiar with: despite high streaming figures, the remuneration on the major platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music is often not enough to live on – a grievance that is also confirmed by a recent study by the German government.

songs.de offers a clear answer to this:

• Prepaid instead of subscription: Fans only pay for what they listen to – without a monthly flat rate.
• Artists set the price themselves: this is how the actual value of the music is determined.
• Gross for net: The platform guarantees that artists earn on average three times as much as with other providers.
• Direct presentation: Each musician receives their own artist page, can upload songs, videos and albums and also integrate them into their own website.
• No algorithms: There is no suggestion system that favours certain content.
• Streaming only – no downloads: So control remains with the creators.

Transparency also applies to the apps: the new iOS and Android app is exclusively for streaming. Registration and top-up are done via the website to avoid unnecessary fees to app distributors – the money goes directly to the artists.

DJ LAB summarises: With songs.de, founder Jens Reese is launching an independent streaming marketplace that focuses on fair payment, self-determination and transparency – for solo artists, labels, agencies and publishers alike.
