Hamburg, 12 December 2024 – Another significant step towards fair payment in music streaming: the renowned industry magazine MusikWoche has published an article about songs.de and presents the platform as a forward-looking alternative to established streaming services.

Under the headline ‘Songs.de lets artists set their own streaming remuneration’, the editorial team describes how songs.de gives artists back control over the value of their music. Instead of rigid, opaque billing models, songs.de allows acts to determine the price per stream themselves – and thus ensure that their creative work is fairly rewarded.

Another key element: live performances become a springboard for sustainable income. Each act receives a free artist profile with a personalised QR code that can be presented at concerts and events. Fans can scan the code, stream the music directly and thus support the musicians directly – without any detours or losses through intermediaries.

MusikWoche particularly emphasises the international approach of the platform: songs.de is already available in eight languages, is globally tax-adapted and thus enables artists worldwide to benefit from fair remuneration. According to the article, acts can earn on average three times as much on songs.de as on conventional platforms.

A quote from founder Jens Reese, which sums up the core of the idea, is not to be missed:

“I care about the artists and I want the artists to be paid just as fairly as I can buy a loaf of bread from the baker and then the baker gets something out of it. That’s why I invented Songs.de.”
